Our server has movies, TV shows, audiobooks, podcasts and ebooks. You watch and listen through free apps on your TV, phone, tablet or computer. Each guide below walks you from your first login to pressing play.

Plex or Jellyfin?

Both show the same movies and shows, and you can use both. Plex works on more devices, so start there. Jellyfin is a good choice if you’d rather not create a Plex account, or if Plex gives you trouble on a device. Watch progress is not shared between the two.

Your account

• Plex: you create a free Plex account yourself and send the email address to the admin, who invites you.
• Jellyfin and Audiobookshelf: the admin creates your account and sends you a username and temporary password. Change the password the first time you sign in.

Asking for something new

• Movies and TV shows: request them at request.ourshelfmedia.com, signing in with your Plex account. No Plex account? Ask the admin to request it for you.
• Books and audiobooks: send the admin the title, author and whether you want the audiobook, ebook or both.

New titles appear in the apps on their own, usually within a day.

The server restarts for updates on Sunday mornings. If an app can’t reach it, wait 10 minutes and try again; if it lasts longer, tell the admin.
